Qigong (Chee GONG) is an ancient, Chinese practice of mindful movement that gathers and increases inner life energy for healthful longevity. It has been shown to reduce stress, calm the mind, condition the body, and increase immunity. In addition, AARP has endorsed Qigong as one of its most highly recommended exercise forms for the prevention of falls.
Participants will find that all levels of physical ability are welcome and are sure to experience benefits from this quiet, deeply life-enhancing
form of exercise.

Foster Parenting in Maine

Have you been a foster parent? Do you know much about foster parenting here in Maine? Join us on Wednesday, May 15th from 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. in the Vestry for a conversation co-sponsored by the Raymond Village Community Church and the Raymond Library. We will learn about the need for foster parents in our own community and about the kids that benefit from it. Sharon Dadmun from SMART Child and Family Services in Windham will be presenting this informative program. All are invited to come and learn about this important perspective on community here in the Lakes Region.

Advanced Care Planning Workshop
May 23rd
6:30pm in the Vestry
Rev. Nancy Foran and Marie Guerin are offering an informative workshop on Advanced Care Planning and facilitating personal reflection on one’s desires in the event of a health crisis, chronic, or terminal illness. They will be using the Five Wishes format, a values-based way to work through an Advanced Directive/Living Will. In addition, they will be encouraging participants to develop strategies for having those sometimes difficult conversations with family. in addition to being the church’s pastor, Rev. Nancy is a certified Advanced Care Planning Facilitator also trained in the benefits of hospice care. Marie Guerin is a trained hospice volunteer.
